Claude does not generate video pixels on its own. It can still produce finished ads and explainer videos, because it can plan the video, write the script, write the code that animates it, and call video generation models through connectors. In 2026 there are three practical routes: Claude Motion for quick animations, Remotion in Claude Code for reusable video templates, and Higgsfield through Claude for realistic footage.
Our recommendation is simple. Use code for anything that must be exact, such as on-screen text, logos, charts and product screens. Use generative video only for shots that need realistic scenes, products or people.
Why the Split Matters
Generative video models are good at motion, light and atmosphere. They are still unreliable at exact text, logos and brand colors, and characters can change from one shot to the next. Code-based tools have the opposite profile: every word, color and frame is written exactly as specified, but they cannot produce a realistic person walking through an office.
Most explainer videos for software and services are made of screens, diagrams and words. Code renders those precisely and cheaply. Most ads need a few striking visual moments, which is where generation helps.
Route 1: Claude Motion
Claude Motion is an artifact type in Claude, released as a beta in October 2026 for Team and Enterprise plans. It turns your content into short animations of text, charts, shapes and images.
- How it works: Claude writes the animation as code. It does not use a video generation model, so it cannot produce realistic footage or people.
- How to start: ask Claude for an animation in any chat, or choose Output > Motion in the message box. Attach the report, data or images you want it to use.
- Editing: ask for changes in the chat, such as "slow down the second scene", or edit directly in the editor. Because the animation is code, changing one number leaves the rest untouched.
- Export: click Export and choose MP4.
- Cost: no separate fee. It counts toward your plan's usage, and longer animations use more.
Anthropic has not published limits for length, resolution or aspect ratio. Export a short test before you plan a campaign around a specific format.
Best for: animated charts for a board meeting, a 30-second summary of a report, a customer onboarding walkthrough. No setup or coding is required.
Route 2: Remotion in Claude Code
Remotion is an open framework that renders video from React code. Remotion publishes an official Claude Code plugin and Agent Skills, which teach Claude how to write correct Remotion code. You describe the video in plain language, Claude writes the scenes, and Remotion renders an MP4.
Install the plugin in Claude Code:
claude plugin marketplace add remotion-dev/claude-code-plugin
claude plugin install remotion@remotion
What makes Remotion useful for marketing teams:
- Templates. Build one composition with your logo, fonts and colors, then reuse it for every video.
- Several formats from one source. Render the same video at 9:16 for stories and reels, 1:1 for feeds and 16:9 for YouTube or your website.
- Data-driven variants. Change a headline, price or language in the data and render a new version.
- Captions and audio. The official skills cover captions, audio and rendering.
Two practical points. First, check the Remotion license: it is free for individuals and companies of up to three people, and larger companies need a company license. Second, a developer should review each preview. Claude can use outdated API patterns, and a preview that works can still fail at render time because of fonts or file paths.
If you prefer an open-source license with no fees, HyperFrames by HeyGen renders HTML and CSS animation to MP4 and also installs as a Claude Code plugin.
Best for: product explainers, feature launches, ad templates you will reuse many times, and videos built from data.
Route 3: Higgsfield Through Claude
Higgsfield runs a hosted MCP server. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard that lets Claude call outside tools. Once connected, Claude can generate images and video with many models from one conversation, including Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0 and Veo 3.1.
Setup: in Claude, add a custom connector named Higgsfield with the URL https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp, then sign in with your Higgsfield account. Developers can also use the Higgsfield CLI and skills in Claude Code. Generation uses your Higgsfield plan credits.
What to know before you plan an ad:
- Clips are short. Most models generate up to 15 seconds per clip, and Veo 3.1 up to 8 seconds. A 30-second ad needs three or four clips joined together.
- There is no timeline editor. Higgsfield generates the clips, but you assemble the finished video elsewhere, for example in Remotion or a video editor.
- Consistency takes method. Generate a start frame for each scene, pick the best one, and reuse it as a reference so characters and products stay the same across shots.
- Credits add up with retries. Some shots need several attempts. Set a monthly credit budget and a limit on attempts per shot.
- Ad tools are built in. Higgsfield exposes brand kits, product catalogs, ad concept generation and style presets for explainers. Claude shows a credit quote before it spends.
Best for: realistic product shots, lifestyle scenes, short social ads and cinematic moments that code cannot draw.
Supporting Tools
- Voiceover: ElevenLabs publishes official skills and an MCP server for text-to-speech, music and sound effects.
- Product demos: a browser automation tool such as Playwright can record your software in use, and Claude can place the recording inside a Remotion video.
- Finishing: FFmpeg joins clips and converts formats. Claude can write and run FFmpeg commands for you.
Which Route for Which Video
| Video | Recommended route |
|---|---|
| Animated chart or report summary | Claude Motion |
| Product or service explainer | Remotion, with a recorded product demo and voiceover |
| Social ad with realistic scenes | Higgsfield clips, assembled in Remotion with text and logo |
| Many ad variants in several formats | Remotion template driven by data |
| Technical or mathematical concept | Remotion, or a Manim skill in Claude Code |
A Workflow That Works
- Brief. Give Claude your brand guide, the audience, where the video will play and its length. Ask for a script and a scene list.
- Decide per scene. Mark each scene as "code" (text, UI, charts) or "generate" (realistic footage).
- Generate the footage. Create start frames, approve them, then animate them into short clips.
- Assemble in code. Put clips, text, logo, captions and voiceover together in one Remotion composition, and render each format you need.
- Review with people. A person approves the script, picks the takes, checks every on-screen word and signs off before publishing.
Rules to Respect Before You Publish
- AI disclosure in the EU. The transparency obligations in Article 50 of the EU AI Act apply from 2 August 2026. Realistic AI-generated or AI-altered content, including in advertising, must be disclosed.
- Platform labels. Meta, TikTok, Google and LinkedIn all label or ask advertisers to declare AI-generated content. Check each platform's current ad policy and set the disclosure options.
- Ownership. In the United States, purely AI-generated material cannot be protected by copyright. Keep a record of the human work: script, selection, editing and the code-built layers.
- People and voices. Get written consent before using anyone's face or voice, including your own staff.
- Data. Before uploading confidential or client material to any generation service, read its data-use terms. Some services can use uploaded content to train their models unless you have an enterprise agreement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Claude generate a video by itself?
Claude Motion produces animated videos from text, charts, shapes and images, and exports them as MP4. It does not produce realistic footage. For realistic scenes, Claude needs a connected video model such as those available through Higgsfield.
Do I need to know how to code?
No for Claude Motion and Higgsfield. Yes, at least at a basic level, for Remotion: Claude writes the code, but someone should review previews and fix render issues.
How long can an AI-generated ad be?
Generation models produce clips of up to about 15 seconds. Longer ads are built by joining several clips and adding text, voiceover and music in an editing or code-based tool.
Is Claude Motion available on every plan?
No. In October 2026 it is a beta for Team and Enterprise plans. On Enterprise plans, an owner must turn it on in the organization settings.
